Making Rice Paper Demonstration | Mekong River, Vietnam

We chose to make the border crossing between Cambodia and Vietnam on the Mekong River via passenger boat; opting for the route between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh via the Kaam Samnor-Ving Xuong border crossing.

With a new and modern airport just outside of Siem Reap, it makes perfect sense to fly into Cambodia, but making the long journey from Saigon via slow boat gave us a chance to glimpse into the long history and diverse cultures along the mighty Mekong.

I shot this video of a woman making rice paper (banh trang) somewhere outside of Chao Doc.  Although her demonstration is mainly for tourism purposes (note the Italian tour guide), it gave us a look at some of the elementary cooking methods still in use today.
