Longan Fruit

The Longan, native to South and Southeast Asia, is a tropical tree that produces edible fruit. It is one of the better known tropical members of the soapberry family to which the lychee belongs.

The fruit is sweet, juicy, and succulent and apart from being eaten fresh, is also used in soups, snacks, desserts, and sweet and sour foods. The flesh is similar in taste to a lychee, the seed and shell are not consumed.
